Queen of the North - update 8

Tyee staff writer Kendyl Salcito makes worthy reading in his piece on the Queen of the North tragedy. He asks eight rhetorical questions, answering them in ways that are not flattering to BC Ferries and its handling of the ship’s sinking. His questions are:

  1. Who was counting passengers?
  2. Did the sinking really have ‘nothing to do with design flaws’?
  3. On safety, where does the buck stop?
  4. Did the fleet seriously deteriorate or not?
  5. Will the northern routes be further privatized, and how?
  6. Are crew members satisfied ferries are safe?
  7. Why is there no suitable substitute ferry for the North?
  8. Where is the press coverage of these issues?
