Airbus A380 delayed again
Friday, September 22nd, 2006 - 4:30 pm
Airbus yesterday admitted that deliveries of the jumbo A380 will be delayed even beyond a previously announced one year postponement. Existing orders for 134 passenger planes and another 25 configured as freighters are now in jeopardy, although parent company EADS says it will still make its first delivery before the end of 2006.
A terse EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co.) press release of yesterday said: “EADS does not confirm nor deny specific information reported by various media relating to the A380 program because the review of the program is not completed yet,” but blames “industrialization challenges with the wiring of production aircraft” for problems.
