BC Ferries raises fares tomorrow

As of November 1, 2007, BC Ferries (BCF) fares will rise between 2.8% and 5%, depending upon the route and vehicle.

The largest increases hit commercial vehicles and travellers on lower-traffic routes.

Commercial vehicles on the Tsawwassen-Schwartz Bay route will see an increase of 4.9%. The rate for an average semi-trailer unit (total length 68 ft.) and driver will rise to $303.90 from the current $289.95, plus fuel surcharges of $23.36 (unchanged).

Passenger vehicles and driver on the same Tsawwassen-Schwartz Bay route will pay an extra $1.60, or 2.8% more.

Tsawwassen-Gulf Island fares rise $2.50, or 4.5%, for weekend passage for a car and driver.
