Canfor targets Chinese market for lumber sales

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005 - 1:04 pm

Canfor is lobbying agressively in China to secure new markets for its products. It hopes to convince Chinese authorities to use wooden trusses for the repair of apartment building roofs. A large number of aging, concrete, public housing blocks have leaky roofs and Canfor is promoting the weight advantages of wood building materials, which would permit cheaper repairs and the addition of an extra story of revenue-producing floor space.

Canfor is consolidating several Lower Mainland shipping terminals into a single Richmond facility dedicated to Asian customers.
